Here are some of the great features of At All Angles

, "Usually when you hear country music band, you picture a group dressed in cowboy hats and Wrangler jeans kicking their boots in the dirt with lassos over their shoulders. Well, at least I do. But I had no idea that alternative country music might be something I would enjoy. I had the pleasure of listening to the latest album released by Winter s Fall, an alternative country band based in Berkeley, CA, that consists of four guys who definitely aren t your average cowboys. At All Angles is a twelve-track album that highlights the band s unique use of instruments behind western swing vocals. The album truly earns its title as the tones and rhythms in their music come from all angles. Mixing the electric, acoustic, and lap steel guitars with organs, keys, and synthesizer beats surprisingly wakes up your ears to a different kind of country genre. There are three intriguing instrumental songs at the beginning, middle, and end of this album to enhance their collaboration of music and demonstrate their exploration of this new sound. The Surveyor is the beginning instrumental song of the album that leads into Anyways, the track and music video that Winter s Fall just recently debuted on YouTube. The lyrics paint a pretty picture of clearing your mind and being free with only a thumb for a ride, and nothing but road for these thoughts to confide. With songs like Break, you can tap your feet to an upbeat rhythm and sing along to playful twangy vocals. There is a Place, would be the perfect track to listen to while cruising on a country road trip where time doesn t matter. All of their tracks keep you guessing from start to finish. My favorite track is Maybe I Do, a cheerful song with great acoustics and a catchy chorus that would be a lot of fun to see played live. Space Canopy in Psychotic Dimension #5 is not only a mouthful to say aloud, but also in describing as the electric guitar and slow drums beat over drawn-out lyrics. Track #10, Boa Constrictor, is a minute and a half long of what may have been an interlude afterthought, but you may find it interesting to guess what instruments are used. The closing instrumental song The Glacier, sounds like a soothing goodbye harmony from the band. There are both soft melodies and edgier alternative sounds to the band s long anticipated album. The vocals by lead singer Peter Winter Stanley throughout the album can be described as a modern day Neil Young minus his harmonica, and the talented instrumentals by brothers Keith and Pete Gidlund, and Hans Ashlock, compliment his vocal delivery well to create their organic sound." - OC Music Magazine
